So I Take a lot of Ambien at Night…

September 3, 2013 1 comment

Ambien. Zolpidem Tartrate.

Those little, white, round 10mg tablets that may or may not be the best prescription date rape drug that’s easily available because it’s only a Schedule IV.

It totally worked. He did not set the alarm.

(Rape is bad.)

Doooooooooooooo not.

Hi, Blog Followers.

If you haven’t noticed, I double posted a post to the wrong blog with sensitive material. I deleted it immediately.

I guess anyone following me already knows my shit, but now that automated e-mails are out, can you keep this info under wraps?

If you have no idea what I’m talking about: good.

Thanks,

Quick Update – Job and More Drinking

August 15, 2013 2 comments

I got a a job. Unexpectedly. In finance. (I studied biochemistry in college and dropped out after 30 credits.)

Basically, I’m a personal assistant, except I think my job also involves coding. So yeah, front end and back end. Should be interesting. Maybe I can fix this layout finally.

I’m in some very fancy places (mostly bars) all the time. I think my boss’s girlfriend who works in high fashion is going to come shopping with me with the company credit card.

It’s fucking insane. And pretty awesome.

Somebody remember to punch me if I start talking “Gucci Gucci Louis Louis Fendi Fendi Prada.”

“Aggressive Following” and my Dissatisfaction with Twitter

August 7, 2013 4 comments

I tried to start a new media account for viral promotion purposes. On Twitter. Because I thought that’s what the Twitter was for.

I believe, as a semi-professional blogger, that I know how NOT to spam and I also believe that I know how interact with new people online in meaningful and interesting ways. I followed 160 accounts over the course of 2 days. I was suspended almost immediately even though I had 34 posts, most of them being interactions with those people I followed.

To avoid any potential backlash (making me paranoid, Twitter and reddit, with all this banning) I have blurred the username:

imageedit_5_7172880917

Holy shit, does this piss me off.

It was just an annoyance until I tried to go through the whole unsuspension proess and it turns out the Captcha thing isn’t even working properly. [You actually need a space between the two words, a detail they should specify. I  actually tried the space the first but I got a straight up Fail Whale technical error the first time.]

I’m glad Automattic and WordPress have never given me any problems. ❤ flexible and reasonable websites.

Share if you feel the same way or have had the same problem with being unfairly suspended from somewhere. Buttons on the bottom. Share my rage; it can be our Twitter rage together.

Meet My Cactus: Carlos Danger

August 4, 2013 2 comments

I bought a new cactus with my roomy. He has funny leaves. (Cactuses are mostly boys, right?) He is replacing Prometheus Maximus, the single, most boring cactus ever, who died tragically and unexpectedly after being carelessly sprayed by the bug exterminator.

I named the new cactus Carlos Danger.

He is an African Milk Tree Plant, according to Google, and according to my friend, also has poisonous sap.

Note to self: Do not ever ever lick Carlos Danger.

Happy Second Birthday to My Failed Anthony Weiner Tumblr!

My Failed “I am Anthony Weiner” Project. What I Learned about Social Movements.

I’ve actually met the Anthony Weiner press manager involved in the other mini-scandal. But I don’t want to link to articles about it because I’ve actually been caught on here talking about people I know “behind their back” before; you can go look it up yourself if you want. (She seemed like a pleasant person at the time.)

I also knew one of Weiner’s former key interns who has since quit the campaign in shame and heavy emotional resignation. That reminds me of something Weiner himself should do…

I think he’ll make it through the run-off, but not by much.

New Projects: F&F Fashion Blog and The Flairist

August 2, 2013 7 comments

I have a new side-project blog that is finally live: Form and Function Fashion Blog

I’ve posted a couple times about fashion and beauty on Clantily Scad and those posts got positive feedback. Since this blog was getting so all-over-the place with the politics and culture commentary, I decided, why not just make my own fashion blog?

I might buy a domain name for it eventually, and I definitely want to make a better layout. My graphic design skills are alright, but if anyone wants to make me a sexy logo for F&F for free, please let me know. 😛

I’m currently looking for contributing writers for Form and Function Fashion for different areas: Hair, make-up, skin care, body-type expert, etc. I already have a “Nail Art Expert” lined up. So if you’re interested in fashion and/or beauty blogging, comment with your contact info. I do have high standards for writing, just so you know, and it will also be unpaid for now unless I decide it’s getting enough traffic to monetize. (And then I’d probably split any profits proportional to writers’ post views. ) If you know anyone who is interested, send them my way to the blog or this post.

Other exciting news in Scandalousmuffin Land:

I’ve signed on as a contributing writer, probably with a health & wellness focus, to a site called The Flairist.

They are up-and-coming online magazine with a focus on career advice for young women. Give them a shout-on on Facebook, if you like them. I will have more details about exactly what I’m writing for them soon.

The Internet is really an amazing place and I feel really lucky to live in a time where I can so easily connect and talk with such interesting, talented people.  Never under-appreciate your friends, on the internet and otherwise. Things are really amazing right now.

Live, write, and love always.

Hot Blogging Community: Twenty Something Bloggers

@20SB

Since my freelance gig went under, and so did the community that followed it, I’ve been looking for ways to connect with other writers who also hustle for page hits.

Recently, I discovered SB20. They seem to fit the bill for a social networking platform that meets my needs as an online writer.

From their Facebook page:

About
Twenty Something Bloggers, the largest online community for twenty-something personal bloggers. http://www.20sb.net/

Mission

This is a place for twenty something bloggers to discover and get discovered!

Company Overview

20 Something Bloggers is the best destination on the web for digitally savvy twenty-somethings. Come join our vibrant community to discover new friends, be discovered, and get involved with a wide array of on and offline events.

My only criticism so far is that they can’t figure out if they want to stylize it to Twenty Something Bloggers or 20 Something Bloggers. I want to know for consistency purposes! Oh wait, there’s a forum for that question 🙂

I think this site has a lot of potential, but has a small enough community where you can still be able to interact with people on a fun and manageable scale. It’s a great idea and was executed beautifully; they have integrated lots of cool social networking features like chat, while keeping it simple. I would encourage other bloggers to join.

Hat Tip to Short Stories and Sustenance for hipping me to this site.
